About Typano
We help children and adults learn to type and to play the piano, one key at a time: short, playful lessons on the keyboard and piano they already have.
Real keys, real instruments
Learners type on their own keyboard and play their own piano, by cable, Bluetooth or the microphone, so practice carries straight over.
Practice that adapts
Every key and note is checked as it's played. Typano notices which ones are hard and builds the next drill around them.
Music you love
Courses take learners from their first notes to full pieces, and families can import their own songs to practise.
Parents in control
Consent first, a parent PIN, approvals for songs, AI lessons and friends, and session caps that end on a celebration.
Why we built it
Typing and playing an instrument are skills for life, and both come down to the same thing: small, accurate movements practised little and often. Most tools either drill without feedback or entertain without teaching. We wanted something that listens to every key, explains what to do next, and makes a few minutes a day feel like progress.
Typano is built for families. One adult account holds profiles for everyone in the household, each with their own progress, streaks and level, from age 5 to adult.
How lessons work
- Typing: home row first, then each finger’s reach, with on-screen hands that show which finger to use and games that build speed without losing accuracy.
- Piano: lessons light up the keys to play and listen to your piano as you play, checking the notes and the timing. See the connect guide to get set up.
- Theory: short, playable explanations of rhythm, notes, scales and chords, woven into the courses.
- Progress: streaks, achievements and goals for learners, and a weekly report for parents.
